Four Ways to Care or Sanitize Your Konjac Sponges

Posted by Ms. Sponge in Konjac Sponge, Products, Sponge Care

Hello!

Just like any bath products or sponges, a personal care is needed to avoid bacteria buildup and prevent molds formation.  According to Mr. Sponge, the best way to avoid molds or bacteria growing in your sponges is by buying and replacing them with new konjac sponges... haha.. :D… If you don’t want to replace your sponge as frequently, try one of these ideas to care or sanitize your sponge:

  1. Keep It Dry (standard care): After use, clean your sponge with clean running water to ensure no soap particles / residuals left in the sponge. Remove excess water by gently pressing the sponge between palms of your hands. Do not twist or squeeze the sponge too hard. Hang the sponge in a well-ventilated area to dry it. Do not leave the sponge in damp/humid place.
  2. Refrigerate it: After use, you may store the clean sponge inside refrigerator either in a sealed container or ziploc bag. Run with clean water before soaking it in warm water before use.
  3. Soak in the Hot Water: Soak the sponge in a hot (not boiling) water for about three to five minutes to disinfect the sponge. Do not use boiling water as it may deform the sponge due to its natural vegetable fiber characteristic. Carefully drain the water and let it cools off before handling or removing the excess water, then hang it to dry. This method can be done once in a while as needed.
  4. Heat in the Microwave (LAST RESORT ONLY): To sanitize the sponge, place a clean WET sponge in a bowl and pour of water into it, then microwave it for 1 minute while monitoring it. Never microwave dry or slightly damp sponge. Carefully remove the sponge or simply leave it for few minutes until it cools off. Do not squeeze the sponge right away as it will be very hot and can cause severe burns. Once cool off, rinse with running water then follow item #1 above (Keep It Dry). **Note: Only do this method as the last resort to sanitize the sponge because it may damage the sponge if not done properly.**

With proper care, your konjac sponge can last approximately 4 to 6 weeks. Please use extra care when handling hot water or sponge when sanitizing it. Once your sponge starts to disintegrate, change it with a new fresh one to obtain its maximum benefits!

Thanks for reading!  Please let us know if you have any further questions.

Cheers,

Ms. Sponge

"Diary of a Trendaholic" Blog Features The Japanese Konjac Sponge!

Yellow!!

Do you know that you are just a mailbox away from a smooth and softer skin? ;D

Here's a wonderful review by Erica Davis, a beauty blogger of Diary of Trendaholic from Toronto Canada, about our Citrus Fruit Puff and Pure White Konjac Sponge.

".......The sponge provided a nice exfoliation on my face and was non-abrasive......"

".......I did notice that my skin became instantly softer, and more supple after using this product..."

".......I was actually quite impressed with how this product made my skin feel and I kept touching my face to feel its smoothness...."

".......[t]he sponge helped provide a nice lather and it made cleansing my face with my regular products easier and more effective."

Also, she uses the Pure White Konjac Sponge for bath, and creatively use Konjac Sponge to prepare her skin before shaving in lieu of using shaving cream (a natural alternative!). Again, both methods generated an amazing softer and smooth skin right away!

So, what are you waiting for? Order our Citrus Fruit PuffPure White Konjac Sponge, and our various products today!  Free shipping in the US!

Cherry Blossom and Green Tea Konjac Puffs Review by Art Evolve/Ashesela

Hello everyone,

Today we are announcing a review by Art Evolve. We are extremely grateful for Ashesela who has written a very nice short review about Cherry Blossom and Green Tea Konjac Puffs on her blog at Art Evolve.

To quote her experience with the Japanese Konjac Sponge:

"I rarely wear makeup, but despite that I was a bit skeptical about the sponge being able to cleanse my skin without any added soap.  How wrong I was!! This beauty made my skin feel so fresh and clean, but at the same time it left a light film on my skin (which may sound gross to some, but I promise it is not!!), and kept it feeling hydrated.  What also really impressed me was the immediate difference in how my skin looked after using the konjac sponge: dewy, clean and fresh".
