Instead of using your bare hands along with your favorite face soap, the Konjac Sponge offer a better solution to cleanse your face. When the sponge is wet, the unique layer of Konjac Sponge is soft and capable to cleanse your skin much better than your bare hands. The sponge is made from Konjac root and when covered with water, the Konjac layer is also slightly alkaline which works well to neutralize slightly acidic grime. This layer helps to break down blackheads, dirt, oil and downy hair and rinses them away, leaving your skin fresh and clean, even without the use of soap. However, you can use the Konjac Sponge with or without your favorite soap. How long does a Konjac Sponge last if it's used daily?

Because our Konjac Sponge is a natural vegetable sponge and contains no preservative or additive agents, the natural fiber is likely to decompose faster if compared to synthetic fiber. If the sponge is used daily, we recommend to replace the sponge around 4-6 weeks after the first day of use. If you do not use the sponge on daily basis, it will last longer.

What is the shelf life of the sponges and puffs?

For unopened and unused sponges and puffs, the shelf life is 3 years for quality guarantee as opposed to 1 year for wet type of sponge. Once the sponges/puffs have been used, they will last 4-6 weeks.

Are they bio degradable?

Yes, they are bio-degradable as no preservatives or additives used in the Japanese Konjac Sponges. The sponges will breakdown gradually in about 4-6 weeks after first use and can be composted just like Konnyaku (food) when discarded. Our Konjac Sponges come in dry form, unlike other brands' wet type Konjac Sponges that usually use preservatives to make them last longer. Our Konjac Sponges are vegan and cruelty-free (not tested on animals). The Konjac plants used to make the puff/sponge are non-GMO (GMO free products).

Is it safe for babies?

Yes. Originally, the Konjac Sponge was invented by Japanese Konjac farmers and was used at the old time to bath babies. The sponge is made from Konjac root and when covered with water, the Konjac layer is also slightly alkaline which works well to neutralize slightly acidic grime. This layer helps to break down blackheads, dirt, oil and downy hair and rinses them away, leaving skin fresh and clean, even without the use of soap. It is still used today for babies. The soft texture of the sponge, along with natural non toxic cleaning agents makes it an ideal tool for cleansing baby's soft skin.

Is it safe for pregnant women?

Yes. In general, all of our sponges and puffs are safe to use for pregnant women. However, if you have a certain condition or allergy, please consult with your doctor.

Is it safe from radiation of the Japanese earthquake in 2011?

Yes. Our products are safe from radiation. The radiation is a serious issue and we take it seriously. The Japanese Konjac Sponge is produced in Tomioka, Gunma prefecture. Gunma prefecture is the area where majority of Japanese Konjac plants are grown. It is hundreds of miles away from the ground zero of the 2011 earthquake. The Japanese Konjac Sponge has been tested for showing no radiation. Are there any precautions using Konjac Sponge?

Yes, there are some:

  • The Konjac Sponge has a very short life. It needs to be replaced every 4 to 6 weeks.
  • Do not use dry/hard Konjac Sponge. It should be rinsed and soaked with warm water before usage.
  • The Konjac Sponge is for external use only. Do not eat it! :)
  • Irritation is pretty rare, but if it happens, please discontinue usage.
  • Do not twist, squeeze or press the sponge too hard as it might damage the sponge.
  • How to clean Konjac Sponge after using it?

It's important to always rinse the sponge with clean running warm water after using it. Using clean hands, press the sponge gently in between palms to drain water out. Do not twist, squeeze, or press the sponge too hard as it may damage the sponge. Hang the sponge in a well-ventilated area to dry it. Do not expose the sponge to direct sunlight and do not leave the sponge in humid place for hygienic reason. Alternatively, keep the sponge in a container and store it in a refrigerator. For more details, please visit "How to Use & Care Guides" page.

My sponge/puff's string fell off. What should I do?

It's possible that the string can slip out of the sponge when it's wet although it does not occurred very often. However, when it happens, there's an easy DIY way to fix it. If you have bobbing pin (hairpin) around, you can insert 1 inch of the edge of the string in between the bobbing pin, so that it grips it nicely. Then, using the pointed part of the bobbing pin, thrust the pin into the wet Konjac Sponge (approx. around the place where the string used to be) until the pin reach to the other side of the sponge, then pull out the pin with the string clipped to it. And "Voila!", you have the string back at place. You can then tie the string back for hanging. Alternatively, you can also use using sewing needle and thicker thread to do the above.

    Can you eat Konjac Sponge?

We would like to remind that the sponge is not food! Although, theoretically, the Konjac root powder used in making the Konjac Sponge are edible and non-harmful, the Konjac Sponge itself is not for internal consumption. If you would like to taste Konjac, you can always buy Konjac food from other vendors.
